Rare earth magnets for fun
We can professionally appreciate the fact that all electric motors in the world (excluding some very inconvenient) works because of magnetism. We can reflect on the fact that each processor, use it well.
CRT monitors, TV, brushless DC motors, power meters, modern welding equipment, and systems for engine ignition time, different machines and umpteen other gadgets use permanent magnets. And electromagnetism have a hand somewhere in the liquidation of virtually all the work of other electronic devices.
For a great appreciation for the visceral magnetism, however, you can not beat playing with magnets.
Really scary freakin 'powerful magnets that preference.
When I was a kid, I had a bag full of black ferrite magnets in different shapes and sizes. They were beautiful toys. I could not hurt me with them.I'm grown up now. Well, physically anyway. And if I upgraded to these.
"These," in this case are neodymium iron boron (NIB) magnets. They are often simply called "neodymium" or "rare earth" magnets, and this composition is both more powerful and less expensive than the former king of the world permanent magnet, samarium cobalt.
How strong?
Well, the smallest magnets in the photo above is a small gold-plated bottles only 6.4 to 2.3 mm in size. Court extends these magnets is not very far has no power, because a smaller magnet, a natural force, the lower the amount of space you can fill a magnetic field, it gives me strength. Magnetic field strength falls as the inverse square distance from the magnet, too, for twice as far and the field strength decreases by a factor of eight. Thus, two of these little Crabbing barely see each other over a distance of more than one centimeter.
