The third generation of rare-earth permanent magnet NdFeb magnets in performance is the strongest permanent magnet in contemporary. Its BHmax value is 5-12 times of ferrite magnet, 3-10 times of Alnico magnet. Its coercive force equals to 5-10 times of ferrite magnet, 5-15 times of Alnico magnets. The potential of magnetic is extremely high and can pick up the equivalent of 640 times of its own weight.
Because the main raw material of NdFeb magnet is very cheap, the reserves of rare earth Neodymium is 10-16 times more than samarium , so the price is much lower than samarium cobalt magnet.
The mechanical properties of NdFeB magnet are better than the samarium cobalt magnet and aluminum nickel-cobalt magnet, it is easier to cut, drill and process of complex shapes. The deficiency of Ndfeb magnet is the poor performance of temperature, under high temperature when using magnetism the loss is comparatively large, the maximum working temperature is lower. General for 80 degrees Celsius, after special processing, the maximum working temperature of magnets can reach 200 degrees Celsius. As the material contains a lot of neodymiun and iron, so easy to corrosive is its major weakness. So ndfeb magnet must be surface coating. It can electroplate nickel(Ni), zinc (Zn), gold (Au), Cr (Cr), Epoxy resin (Epoxy), etc.
Ndfeb magnet has been widely used in industrial aerospace, electronics, industrial machinery, instrumentation, medical treatment and other fields. And it is more and more widely used in non-technical fields, such as adsorption magnets,toys and jewelry etc.
